The Deployed Locks work in conjunction with the over-center hinge linkages. The Deployed Locks automatically engage when the Guide Rail is “deployed” but require the operator to manually disengage them, thereby ensuring that the Guide Rails can only return to “stowed” condition when intended. This safety feature is especially critical for Aerial Delivery scenarios, where an unintended collapse of a Guide Rail could lead to catastrophic failures.
