Lifting Tool
The Lifting Tool is a multi-purpose device used to assist the operator in the operation of the Guide Rails and Z-Flange. Two Lifting Tools are provided onboard the aircraft and stowed separately in the aircraft. The Lifting Tool functions as a lever arm to raise the Guide Rail to the“deployed” condition. This tool decreases the effort necessary from the operator to lift the Guide Rail up. The Lifting Tool is also used to trip the over-center hinge linkages beyond their over-center condition and lower the Guide Rail to the“stowed” condition. The use of the tool ensures that the operator’s limbs and appendages are clear of the Guide Rail while collapsing, thereby preventing the possibility of injury.
