The Stowed Locks, as their name implies, are used to secure the Guide Rail in the “stowed” condition. This feature is necessary to prevent the Guide Rails from opening in negative ‘g’ force situations. They operate by rotating a control knob on the outboard surface of the Guide Rail. There is one Stowed Lock per Guide Rail, and the operator must manually engage and disengage it.
